1. Who we are
Marendo (a South African marketplace at marendo.co.za) processes personal information as a responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have.
2. What we collect
We collect the information you give us directly — name, email address, phone number and delivery address. When you place an order we also keep order history and payment references. We do not store your full card details; payment data is processed by our payment provider, Paystack.
3. How we use it
We use your information to operate your account, process and deliver orders, send order and tracking updates, communicate with you about your purchases, and — where you have opted in — send marketing news. We rely on performance of a contract and our legitimate interests, and we never sell personal information.
4. Vendors
Vendor applicants provide business and contact details so we can assess applications, create storefronts and pay out sales. We share only the order details and delivery address a Vendor needs to fulfil your order.
5. Sharing & processors
We share data with processors who help us run the Platform (hosting by Supabase and Vercel, email by Resend, payments by Paystack) under agreements that require them to protect the data. Orders are fulfilled by the relevant Vendor.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law (for example to keep records for financial and tax purposes).
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to processing or withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and role-based access controls — to protect personal information.
